Description

Chicken Teriyaki is a beloved Japanese dish featuring pan-seared chicken glazed in a sweet-savory teriyaki sauce. It's quick, easy, and perfect with steamed rice and a side of vegetables.

  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring spoons
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Tongs

Ingredients

  • 500 g Chicken thighs (boneless, skinless)
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1/4 cup Soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Mirin
  • 2 tbsp Sake (or water as a sub)
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 clove Garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp Ginger (grated)
  • to serve Steamed rice, sesame seeds, scallions

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, garlic, and ginger. Set aside.
  2. Pat chicken dry and lightly season with salt. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  3. Place chicken skin-side down (or smooth side) and cook until golden and crisp, about 6–7 minutes. Flip and cook another 5–6 minutes.
  4. Pour the teriyaki sauce into the pan. Simmer until the sauce thickens and glazes the chicken, turning to coat.
  5. Slice chicken, drizzle with remaining sauce, and serve with steamed rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped scallions.
