
Chicken Teriyaki

Chicken Teriyaki is a beloved Japanese dish featuring pan-seared chicken glazed in a sweet-savory teriyaki sauce. It's quick, easy, and perfect with steamed rice and a side of vegetables.

Ingredients
- 500 g Chicken thighs (boneless, skinless)
- 1 tbsp Oil
- 1/4 cup Soy sauce
- 2 tbsp Mirin
- 2 tbsp Sake (or water as a sub)
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 1 clove Garlic (minced)
- 1 tbsp Ginger (grated)
- to serve Steamed rice, sesame seeds, scallions
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, garlic, and ginger. Set aside.
- Pat chicken dry and lightly season with salt. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Place chicken skin-side down (or smooth side) and cook until golden and crisp, about 6–7 minutes. Flip and cook another 5–6 minutes.
- Pour the teriyaki sauce into the pan. Simmer until the sauce thickens and glazes the chicken, turning to coat.
- Slice chicken, drizzle with remaining sauce, and serve with steamed rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped scallions.
