Description

A rich and creamy tomato-based curry featuring tender marinated chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala is one of the most beloved dishes in Indian cuisine. It's perfect with basmati rice or warm naan bread.

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Skillet or frying pan
  • Blender (optional, for smooth sauce)
  • Tongs
  • Knife and cutting board

Ingredients

  • 500 g Boneless chicken thighs (cubed)
  • 200 g Yogurt (for marinade)
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp Ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp Turmeric
  • 1 tbsp Garam masala
  • 1 tbsp Ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp Paprika
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1 Onion (chopped)
  • 2 Tomatoes (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 100 ml Heavy cream
  • to taste Salt
  • Handful Fresh coriander

Instructions

  1. Mix yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric, garam masala, cumin, paprika, and salt in a bowl. Add chicken and marinate for at least 30 minutes (preferably 2–4 hours).
  2. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a skillet. Sear the marinated chicken on medium heat until cooked through and slightly charred. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add another tbsp of oil. Sauté chopped onions until golden. Add tomatoes and cook until soft. Stir in tomato paste and cook for 2–3 minutes.
  4. For a smoother consistency, blend the sauce and return it to the pan.
  5. Add the cooked chicken to the sauce, pour in heavy cream, and simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with rice or naan.
