Description

Greek Chicken Gyros are a Mediterranean street food favorite. Marinated grilled chicken wrapped in warm pita bread with fresh veggies and creamy tzatziki sauce—healthy, flavorful, and perfect for lunch or dinner.

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Grill pan or skillet
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Tongs
  • Grater (for cucumber)

Ingredients

  • 500 g Chicken thighs (boneless, skinless)
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp Dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp Ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp Paprika
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 4 Pita breads
  • 1 Tomato (sliced)
  • 1/2 Red onion (thinly sliced)
  • 1 cup Shredded lettuce

Instructions

  1. Combine olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Add chicken and marinate for at least 20 minutes.
  2. Mix grated cucumber, yogurt, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, dill, and salt in a bowl. Chill until ready to use.
  3. Grill or pan-fry the chicken on medium heat until fully cooked and charred. Slice into strips.
  4. Warm pita breads. Fill each with chicken, tomato, onion, lettuce, and a generous spoonful of tzatziki sauce.
  5. Fold and serve immediately. Optional: wrap in parchment for easy handling.
